Share books with your children everyday, listen to them read, read stories to them talk about the characters, the plot, the parts you like the parts you don't, ask questions such as why? How? Where? When? Take a look at the link to the Literacy page ...

See you in SODA (Start of the Day Activities) 8.50am, great to see so many parents coming in

Curriculum Meeting for Year 1 Parents power points

Take a look to see what your child's end of year expectations are....

Welcome back to Year 1 everybody.

I hope you are all super excited to be back at school. I know I am. frown

Children don't forget to bring your NAMED book bags and NAMED PE kits. (PE will be on Mondays and Fridays)

We have a lot of exciting things planned for this year.  So keep a close eye on your class page.

Parents, one thing I encourage you all to do to help your child this year is to take them to the library and encourage your child to read as many books as possible, from stories, poems, fables, recounts to information books. It is so important that they hear YOU read to them as well as them reading to you on a daily basis.  Keep an eye on our exciting topics each term and look for information books to take out and share together, they could even bring them into school.

Year one is a really important year for phonics.  Your child will be taking a phonics test and we want them to pass it first time, so please help your child to practise (recognising and reading in words) all the phase 2,3,4 and 5 phonemes and Tricky Words.  To help you I recommend the website www.phonicsplay.co.uk.

Remember parents are always welcome into school at 8.50 until register at 9am this is for you and your child's SODA activities, so don't be late, I can't wait to see you all,

     Miss Cowgill
