An autumn filled week🌲🍃
What a jam-packed week we have had in Reception Oak!
This week, we have been learning all about the autumn season through a range of stories including ‘Leaf Man’ and through venturing on an autumn walk as a class around the school grounds. We had so much fun exploring nature, looking at the signs of autumn and collecting different leaves as a team (being Coco Collaborators). Using these leaves, we then created our own unique leaf men and labelled it using our phonics with the word ‘man’🍁🍂.
In maths, we have been looking at the concept of ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ and have been applying it in all areas of the provision both indoors and outdoors through conversations with our friends. Also, this week we have been introduced to the Phase 2 phonics sounds ‘g’, ‘o’, ‘c’ and ‘k’ and have been blending our sounds at every opportunity, including through a fun word hunt around the school. Can you sound out and blend the names of some objects in your home?🏠
In art, we have been looking at the environmentalist artist, Andy Goldsworthy’s work, helping us to notice nature in greater detail and to ponder all of its magical mysteries through impressive reinventions and imaginative creations🎨.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy reading your reading books!
