Week 3
Every child an Artist
Over the last few weeks we have been looking closely at natural found objects in the atelier with our artist in residence. We’ve been learning how to draw in black charcoal and blend in white pastel with our fingers. We were very proud of ourselves for learning this technique and we are getting even better every week focusing on the detail.
Take a look at some of our Art in our sketch books!
In English -The gingerbread man continues to inspire us to be storytellers as we act out the sequence and the characters. We use actions to match some of the words in the text which helps us with our writing. In phonics we’ve been busy applying our knowledge, writing passwords, birthday cards and we also had a good go at writing some sentences, such as... He can run.
In Maths - as always we have been singing number songs, especially Dave Godfrey’s solider number fun song, we love this! We’ve been exploring the numicon and ordering numbers to 20, guessing which number is missing and solving problems. We also tried hard to write all our numbers to 10 and some to 20.
The Lazy River
We decided to call our outdoor area the Lazy river so we can pump water into the area and make lots of muddy puddles and a river running through the rocks. We’ve had so much fun exploring this area and we hope the water butt fills up soon so we can investigate even more.
Today we reflected on the things we are grateful for, the things that are important and things children may need in the UK.
Have a lovely weekend 😊
