In English this week, we have been busy identifying features of a non-fiction text. We are learning a model text all about polar bears! Our phonics sounds this week were ‘ey’ (monkey), ‘or’ (shield) and ‘y’ (floppy), which were challenging sounds as they all sound the same but look different! We have also been practising reading and writing our tricky words, which are so so important! In maths, we have been exploring number bonds to 10, using part-whole models and our knowledge of fact families.
As scientists this week, we looked deeper at some of the objects we found on our material hunts at home and in the classroom, and sorted the materials of these objects into their different properties (hard, soft, heavy and light). We loved history this week, as we brought in our favourite toys from home, shared them with the class and had opportunity to play with them. Next week we will be looking at some old toys and comparing them to our current favourite toys, which will be very interesting!
Friday was Remembrance Day, so we spent some time learning what this means and why it is so important.
We are so excited that we started to learn the songs for our Christmas play this week too! It has been a super fun-filled week. Thank you also to all of the parents who attended parents evening - it was lovely to meet you all properly!
