We have had an absolutely fantastic first week in Year 1!

We started the week reading a story about The Worry Monsters and thinking about what we are most looking forward to in Year 1, to try and help our class worry monster feel less nervous about starting a new school year. We also had had lots of fun hot-seating, discussing the things that make us happy and our favourite parts of our summer holidays. We even had a go at writing some sentences about our holidays in English. We have started doing some Talk for Writing too, as we plan a trip to Moss park, which we are really looking forward to.

We have had some super exciting phonics sessions, reviewing some of the sounds we learnt in Reception by going on a sound hunt in the outdoor area! In maths we have practised our counting with board games, and explored how to sort objects into groups, with great outdoor and indoor challenges, like sorting stones into their different shapes, and pencils into their different colours. We showed some amazing teamwork when doing this!

We are starting to settle into Year 1 and can't wait to have more fun learning next week.
