Summer 1

Can we look after our earth?

In literacy we will be using the book 'Jack and the Beanstalk' as our Talk 4 Writing story. We will be learning the story and creating actions to go with it as we retell it in our own words. We will be writing simple sentences about Jack and the giant!

In maths we are going to continue to work with number bonds - challenging ourselves with number bonds to 10 and doubling numbers. We will continue to add and subtract numbers and learning to write a calculation, including part part whole.

While celebrating Earth Day we will also look at how we can keep our ocean healthy and safe and the effects that pollution is having on the wonderful creatures in our oceans. We will focus on the Super Learner 'Eco Eddie' as we create posters and rules to keep the ocean clean and safe.

With Mrs Walsh in the atelier we will be extending our Art skills to paint oceans influenced by our big questions. We will continue this learning in the classroom and make links in maths to creating patterns.

As a rights respecting school we will be interested what our children think about how they can be good citizens and how they can care for our earth.
