Spring 2
Our Enquiry Question is…
Can You See Signs of Spring?
Spring Is Here!
This Spring term we will be exploring seasonal changes and getting ready for new life. We will be reading our core text...Hettie Peck and learning about the story of Easter. We will also be retelling the story of The Foggy Foggy Forest by Nick Sharratt and reading the enrichment stories, Little Red Riding Hood, Little Rabbit Foo Foo and The Little Red Hen - awaiting our special arrival of some hatching little chicks. How exciting!
Now we have developed our phonic knowledge and see ourselves as amazing writers, we will be exploring challenges such as writing lists, captions, instructions and even writing our own egg poems, whilst not forgetting bundles of child initiated ideas and seeing where this learning takes us.
Our big maths focus this term will be mainly outdoors, using the composition of numbers, 3D shapes and the exploration of part part whole to 10.
As artists, we will develop our skills by using a variety of media to experiment with textures to create natural landscapes. We will be looking at the local artist, Ed Eidaba, and taking our influence from nature to inspire us in our creations. We will be learning how to make a pancake using tools and cooking skills.
We will develop our knowledge and understanding of the life cycle of a chick and the Spring season using non fiction texts to find information information.
In class, we are really excited to be developing our 'Remember Me' space to draw on past experiences in class and at home.
Are you ready to mix and toss your pancake?
