What an exciting half term we are going to have!

As you may of guessed we have a bear theme this half term.....

There will be lots of fun and maybe even some bear hunts! We are going to find out who really did eat all the porridge! Our classroom has changed we have a Three Bears Cottage and lots of bear activities. Please take a look below at our parents update to find out about all the wonderful learning your children will be doing this half term.

Family Learning Week

We started our Family Learning week with a fantastic dog show. The Dogs were amazing and they showed the children their clever tricks.

Then Mrs Butler went to get her dog from her room but her dog called Kye was nowhere to be found, he was lost!!

What happened to Kye we had to find out! We went around school to find clues we were just like detectives!

PC Dave came in with Ruby his police dog to help us investigate the disappearance of Kye!

Our grown ups came into our class to help us make dogs on our art and craft dog afternoon. Many thanks to all who came to help, the children had a fantastic time.

We changed our story to We're Going on a Dog Hunt. We acted the story out to our grown ups, then we all went in the garden and went on a dog hunt. It was great fun.

Mrs Wellbon and her guide dog Zeus came to visit us. We had lots of questions to ask and found out lots of interesting facts about guide dogs. We even found out that guide dogs can go on trains, buses, trams and even on aeroplanes!

A real forensic scientist came to visit and showed us how we can find clues to help solve the mystery of a missing dog.

He showed us how to identify different finger prints, footprints  and peoples handwriting. This all helped us solve the  crime, we investigated with the help if our grown ups. We all became forensic scientists for the morning it was great fun!!

To celebrate the end of our fantastic Family Learning Week we all came to school dressed as a dog!

Manchester Dogs Home came to our assembly this morning. We met a lovely dog called Percy and learnt lots of interesting facts about the dogs home.

Thank you for all you kind donations.

Well done Nadia for making it onto the VIP table this week for excellent behaviour at lunchtime!

Global Learning Day

What a fantastic day we had, our day started with a Rights Respecting assembly by Mrs Butler. We also had important visitors at our assembly, our local MP Kate Green, the Head Teacher and school council from St Matthews School Stretford and some of our parents who came in to work with the children.

Each class chose a children's right and a country to focus on.

Our class chose Article 28 the Right to an Education and we focused our learning on the country Kenya.

Please take a look at all the fantastic learning that took place today.

A very big thank you to Alaiza's mummy for making yummy Kenyan food and talking to use about Kenya.

On Friday we had our Rights Respecting Class Charter morning.

As a whole class we decided what we wanted our class charter to look like. We looked at a  few examples to help us and we then decided we wanted a Rocket and Stars class charter with rights rockets and all the children on the stars. We started by choosing the rights we felt were the most important to our class, we chose five! Then we painted our rockets by working as a team and everyone cut out their own star. We also did some writing about how we can respect these rights.

On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day everyone looked amazing.

We read lots of stories throughout the day and we wrote about our favourite books.

On Shrove Tuesday we made pancakes.

We had a go at flipping them and the best part, we even tasted them they were yummy!

Well done James on making it onto the VIP table this week for amazing behaviour at lunchtime!

Oh no look what happened in our classroom today!

We just could not believe our eyes and it all happened while we were in PE ! We started to look for clues who could have done this? We had lots of fantastic ideas, Isla thought it was baby bear, George thought it was mummy and daddy bear. Lots of children thought it was Goldilocks and Mekhi thought baby bear rolled down the stairs and bumped into the table and the table landed on the chair. We started to be detectives!

Nathan read the message 'Who did it?'
Lorenzo was very kind he cleaned up the porridge
What we might do if Goldilocks went in our cottage
We took turns playing the three bears game
Oh no who are these bears?
There is Goldilocks! do you think she was good?
Husna acted out the three bears story
How many spoons of porridge to fill the bowlsl
Mia thought this is what Goldilocks looks like
Bethany drew a picture about the story
