A Walk in the Woods...
As we move into 'Spring 2' we will continue with our topic 'A Walk in the Woods...'.
Through this topic we will observe the beginnings of Spring and the environmental changes that come with the new season. We will spend as much time as we can in the great outdoors, being inspired by the evolving nature around us. We will be planting some wild flowers and bulbs in hope that they spring up as the weather begins to warm!
As well as new life in the form of flowers and plants we will be taking inspiration from our core and 'Talk 4 Write' texts, 'Hattie Peck' and 'The Little Red Hen' as we learn about the life cycle of a chick. We will be learning about all the types of new life we see popping up in the season of Spring and keeping our eyes out for the birds that begin returning for the warm weather!
In phonics and literacy we will continue to work our way through phase 3 phonics, all the while recapping and consolidating phase 1 and phase 2 phonics. We will be writing labels, captions and simple sentences as we develop as independent writers!
In maths we will work to develop our mathematical vocabulary and use 'part, part, whole' frames to explore number bonds to upto 10.
During this half term we will also learn about the celebration 'Easter' and the traditions surrounding this time of year for those that celebrate. We will compare our own family traditions and celebrations to those of others and celebrate our similarities and our differences.
