Reception Elm - Mrs Peters
Welcome to Reception Elm
Hello! My name is Mrs Peters and I will be your class teacher working alongside Mrs Rafiq our teaching assistant. On our class page you will be find updates and pictures of all the exciting things we have been getting up to in school. We’re going to have an amazing year and we can't wait to fill our walls with love, laughter and learning.
Click on the leaves each half term, where we will update you on our medium term planning and celebration of learning. It is a great way to keep up with our learning and adventures!
Reception Elm Learning Environment
During the Autumn Term children will come home with a guided reading book and a reading record. To ensure children make good progress in reading, we expect parents and carers to read with your child at least 5 times a week for 10 minutes a day. Please read and sign the reading record each time you read, even if you are sharing a book from home. Children will return their reading books every Thursday in the basket at the door. Please remember to return the reading record inside the book.
Home learning will be set on the online learning platform Seesaw, however on occasions we do send home practical home learning tasks to engage with a family. We will send home the high frequency words for children to learn at home. If you need any support with this home learning please do let us know.
It is important that all children bring a waterproof coat to school everyday - we LOVE the outdoors in ALL weather! We also recommend for them to keep a pair of wellies in school for those really wet Manchester days. Wellies can be stored in our wet shed in our playground.
As part of our Physical Education, children will take part in a lesson once a week with our sports coach. PE Children can come wearing PE kits on this day. (In the winter children can wear joggers or leggings) Our PE day will be Thursday.
It is the expectation that reading books and book bags are brought to school every day. Children will have time to look at books in our reading sessions and they can take home their pictures to share.
Please remember to put names in EVERYTHING - coats, hats, jumpers, gloves.
Please may we ask, if you can keep the communication brief at handover and dismissal times. If you would like to discuss anything then please contact the school office. Alternatively, you may email the school office to arrange an appointment via telephone or in person with your child's class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to embracing the year ahead.
