Reception Elm - Mrs Peters

December 2020 Newsletter

 Welcome to Reception Elm

Hello! My name is Mrs Peters and I will be your class teacher alongside Miss Centi our teaching assistant. On our class page you will be find updates and pictures of all the exciting things we have been getting up to in school.

We’re going to have an amazing year and we can't wait to fill                        our walls with your love, laughter and learning.

Click on the leaves each half term, where we will update you on our medium term planning and celebration of learning. It is a great way to keep up with our learning and adventures!

A place to explore a sense of self and the world around me

Key Information:

Reading:

Reception Elm reading day will be every Monday. To ensure children make good progress in reading, we expect parents and carers to read with your child at least 3 times a week for 10 minutes a day. Please read and sign the reading record each time you read with your child. Children will return their reading books every Friday so they can be quarantined for the weekend.

Outdoor clothing:

It is important that all children bring a waterproof coat to school everyday - we LOVE the outdoors in ALL weather! We also recommend for them to keep a pair of wellies in school for those really wet Manchester days.

Dance/PE:

As part of our Physical Education we will be developing our movement skills in a weekly dance session. Children will only take their shoes off and wear PE pumps. After half term - PE will begin and we will update you in due course what children will need.

Book Bags:

It is the expectation that reading books and book bags are brought to school every day. Children will have time to look at books in our reading sessions and they can take home their pictures to share.

Uniform:

Please remember to put names in EVERYTHING - coats, hats, jumpers, PE pumps etc.

School Contact:

In line with our school risk assessment, staggered starting times have been put in place so that we can safely manage the flow of parents and carers entering the school grounds. Please may we ask, if you can keep the communication brief at handover and dismissal times. If you would like to discuss anything then please contact the school office. Alternatively, you may email the school office to arrange an appointment via telephone or in person with me.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to embracing the year ahead.
