Article 24: Every child has the right to the best possible health.
Why our PE curriculum looks like this:
As a gold-awarded rights-respecting school, Moss Park Infants believe that all children deserve a high quality Physical Education. This includes being taught how to keep themselves healthy: physically, mentally and nutritionally. We believe that Physical Education should give all children the opportunity to be creative, cooperative and competitive, as well as, encouraging children to face up to diverse challenges both as individuals and working collaboratively in teams. Children need opportunities to master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, so that they can apply their knowledge to sports as they develop and grow - allowing them to develop their own individual skills and talents.
At Moss Park Infant School, we also understand how important physical movement is to children’s mental wellbeing; helping to ease their anxiety and build a healthy and happy attitude to learning. This is why we strongly believe that physical movement should be incorporated into every school day and not just confined to PE lessons. Through a holistic approach to Physical Education we endeavour to give children the skills and strategies they need to live healthy, active and happy lives.
