Parent Focus Meeting 02/03/16
Thank you to the parents who came along to the parent focus group meeting on Wednesday 02/03/16. It was fabulous to see DADS attending - please continue to do so!!
The group has been created to empower parents and school leaders to work together in shaping the future of our school. As we have already established, it isn't a forum for complaining or discussing individual children, rather the school, children and parents working together as a whole community.
We discussed;
The feedback from the parent questionnaires
The opening of the new outdoor classroom
Parent focus group supporting during the parents evening
Rights Respecting Journey
Our next meeting will be Wednesday 20th April 2016 at 5pm - please come along we would love to see new faces
I will be working on the following as a result of the meeting;
Leaflet for parents about the parent focus group
Ideas around more opportunities for updates on progress
Working with the school council to prepare for an open event - courtyard
Thank you for your continued support

- The school improvement plan
- engagement in school of more parents
- Parking outside school
- Next meeting date.
The next meeting date will be; Wednesday 16th December at school @ 5pm ALL welcome
Outcomes from the meeting;
Parent's wrote a first draft of a parent questionnaire - focus on parental engagement
Parents agreed with the changes to the locking of gates to keep children safe
Parent decided that we need to take action regarding the parking situation outside school
Parents supported the ideas regarding the development of the court yard and were willing to 'muck' in to get it prepared
Huge thanks to those who came PLEASE... continue to engage
A huge thank you to all the parents who came to the meeting on Monday evening. We had 48 parents who came along to meet with me and find out what we will be focusing on in school.
We have had a really good number of parents who have expressed an interest of being involved in our parent focus group. If you didn't make it to the meeting and would like to find out more, see below.
Parent Focus group
This will be a group of parents who will commit to supporting school in becoming even better. We will meet each half term, during this time we will discuss the school's key priorities, read new policies, speak with the school council and be the face of the parents for any formal visits to the school from outside agencies/community visitors.
It's a platform for parent voice and involvement - you have so much to offer school. It is not a forum for discussing concerns (we have a separate policy in place for supporting issues and concerns). So I do ask that individual children should not be spoken about at the meetings.
We want parents to be involved in school life, help us make decisions and feel that your ideas are listened to and where appropriate for the school, seeing your ideas and suggestions blossom.
I will post a date and time over the next week for the first meeting. It make take a few attempts to get an appropriate time. Some parents prefer mornings, others after school. I will try my best to go with the majority.
I'm really looking forward to working with you.
