UNIFORMD - Pre Loved School Uniforms
Following parent feedback, we have been in contact with a company who can help us set up a platform for parents to donate pre-loved items in good condition, for other parents to purchase at a heavily discounted price.
We have asked the parent focus group to obtain your feedback and we will confirm at the next meeting if this is something that parents feel they would benefit from.
It would provide parents with a platform to purchase much cheaper uniform items, whilst also raising money that can go towards school resources.
Please contact Mrs Latham if you would like any more information.
Co-op Food Share Partners
We are very excited that our recent application to become food share partners with the Co-op was successful and we are now able to collect from the Co-op on Barton Road in Stretford.
Co-op Food Share donates food that stores have been unable to sell but are still good to eat. This is likely to include items that have a best-before date, for example bakery items, fruit, veg, salad and possibly some dairy products or fresh meat. We have purchased a chest freezer so that we can store the food safely and we will open up our market stall on a fortnightly or weekly basis, depending on what items we have available, and parents can come and take items that they may need.
Mrs Latham will begin collecting on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning so look out for texts advising what we have on offer!
Our next parent focus group meeting is on Wednesday 15th March 2022 at 9am. If you have an idea / feedback that you wish to be brought to the meeting, please contact your year group representative.
Children's Adventure Farm Trust Visit
This week, we were given the opportunity to take a small group of children and parents to visit the Children's Adventure Farm Trust at the beautiful Booth Bank Farm in Cheshire.
This was a wonderful experience for the children and parents, who were able to spend some quality time together feeding the animals, playing on the park, engaging in forest school activities and even swinging on a zip wire!
Next Focus Group Meeting
Mrs Latham and Mrs Butler are meeting with the various year group representatives on Wednesday 9th February 2022.
We have asked your respective representatives to gain some general feedback from you for this meeting and we would welcome any ideas or suggestions that parents have on all aspects of school life.
Things have been a little different at Moss Park Infant School since the start of the pandemic and we have unfortunately not been able to invite parents into school for the various events and activities that we normally would. However, we are still trying to engage as best we can with regular texts / emails from school, zoom updates from Mrs Butler and messages from teachers via Seesaw.
If you have any ideas or suggestions on how we can continue to keep parents involved whilst we are still experiencing restrictions, then please bring these ideas to your year group representative who can raise this as an item on the agenda for the next meeting. As cases are currently rising in Trafford and around school, we are limiting visitors at the moment, but are hopeful this can be relaxed soon.
Other suggestions, ideas and feedback are welcome - a few examples below:
How you and your child are managing online learning when this is necessary. Can you access it without any problems? Is the content sufficient for your child? Do you need any additional support? Are you happy with the level of communication from your child's class teacher?
We know that some parents will have been disappointed that we felt it was not appropriate to hold performances in school over Christmas. With rising rates in Trafford over the Christmas period we did not want to take that risk, but do appreciate that other schools may have taken a different approach. We did receive many messages of support from parents who wholly understood and fully agreed with our position and we thank you for understanding. We were determined to ensure that you still received a memento of such a special time in school and therefore hired a professional videographer to capture those moments. The videos are available on your child's class pages and we hope that you had an opportunity to sit down as a family and enjoy the performances together. We would to hear your feedback on what you thought of the performances and the recording.
Events / Fundraising Ideas
We want parents to be as involved as possible in school life and we are always looking for different ways to do this, along with any ideas that parents may have about raising funds for the school.
We would love to hear any creative ideas you have for how we do this whilst not being able to invite parents into school, but also if you have any ideas about future events / fundraisers once life is back to normal, then please let us know and we can start making plans!
We hope that the children (and parents) find Moss Park Infant School a welcoming, warm and safe place to learn, laugh and love. We would love to hear any feedback that you have about school life in general.
We are passionate about building strong partnerships with our parents and would welcome any suggestions on how to make you feel more involved. We would love to hear your thoughts on how you feel communication is handled from school. Do you feel welcomed when you visit or telephone the school office? Are you greeted by a smile each day by a member of the Senior Leadership Team and your child's class teacher? Do you think that the school keep you well informed of what is happening, or do you have any suggestions on how we can improve?
All of the above are just a few of the ways that you can offer your feedback. You may have an idea about something else that isn't listed, so please do feel free to contact your year group representative with comments on any of the above, or anything else at all. If you would like to contact school directly, Mrs Latham is our Parent Support Lead and will be happy to hear your thoughts on 0161 864 3636 or via email at email@example.com
