Mrs Natalie Knight

Parent Governor

I am the mother of two children; a daughter who is in Year 2 at Moss Park Infants School and a younger son who will hopefully be attending the school soon. Over the last few years, I have played an active role in the school, volunteering to be involved in school life in different ways.

In my professional life, I have been a public servant for nearly 19 years; undertaking various roles. The last 10 years I have been in senior leadership positions. I therefore have a broad range of skills and experiences on which to draw upon. These include; experience of managing and leading large groups of staff who are both directly and non-directly employed; strategic leadership; the management of senior managers to deliver the strategy; management of large budgets; management of personnel matters and oversight of the delivery by other managers within this field; delivery of performance management targets and drafting and delivering service level agreements; Union engagement; staff development and wellbeing delivery; and partnership working both within the workplace and also with other external agencies, partners or local authorities. This list is not exhaustive and only covers some aspects of my leadership and management skills and responsibilities.

I have dedicated my career to public service, because I truly want to make a difference to the lives of other people. One of the most rewarding periods of my job were the years spent working with young people. I thoroughly enjoyed this work and by doing this, have gained a good understanding of child safeguarding procedures and legislation.

Mrs Dawn Hawker

Co-opted Governor

I have been a Governor at Moss Park Infant School since 2003 during a spell of recuperation and came to listen to the children read and got voted onto the Governing body.  I have also spent my time on the Friends of Moss Park Infant School Group raising funds for the extras for the school.  I have been in various roles within the Governing body and have enjoyed every one of them.

I have really enjoyed my time at the school in every capacity but most of all I enjoy seeing the children enjoy themselves when they do activities in the school whether it be at the Fete or Christmas Nativity or an assembly.

I have lived in Manchester for the last 25 years although I have travelled to various counties with my husband in his career.

My background comes from a PA and Legal aspect and I am a dedicated member of the Royal British Legion and support families in difficulty.

Mr Simeon Gill

Parent Governor

I am a parent of three children (Reuben, Violet and Arlo) who have, are or will attend Moss Park Infants. I have enjoyed playing an active part in supporting the school and as a governor I look forward to further supporting Moss Park Infants in the excellent work it does.

I work at the University of Manchester as a lecturer and hope my experiences in education can support the school and its governance. I believe Moss Park Infants is an important community asset and that the involvement of the community can help to further its success, I am also actively involved in the Friends of Moss Park group supporting the development of the local park next to the school. I look forward to being a parental voice in the school and contributing as a governor.

Ms Joss Little

Co-opt Governor

I am an experienced Human Resources professional, and recently joined Nanoco Group PLC as a key member of the leadership team in the role of HR Business Partner. Nanoco are a world leader in the research, development and large-scale manufacture of heavy metal-free nanomaterials for use in displays, lighting, solar energy and bio-imaging. I have a successful background in leading, motivating, developing and supporting others. I have vast experience of working effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders supporting the development and delivery of strategic and operational service/business goals, in both the private and third sector environment. I am an Associate member of the CIPD and I hold a BA (hons) in Combined Social Sciences from Durham University and an MSc in Human Resource Management from Manchester Metropolitan University. Outside of work I play Rugby for Manchester Ladies and I enjoy travelling with my partner.

Ms Lucy Geddes

Co-opt Governor

Throughout my professional career I have worked with a number of different arts organisations across the North West. Coming from an artistic background, I am passionate about giving everyone the opportunity to be creative. For six years I was Head of Camerata in the Community at Manchester Camerata Orchestra. During this time I enabled 12,000 people per year to access music, drama and visual arts - actively creating their own pieces of art and sharing it with others.

I developed training schemes for teachers, including a scheme on Music, Health & Wellbeing that was adopted by a local authority, and a scheme that embedded songwriting across the curriculum. I also worked closely with children with Special Educational Needs.

I am now Head of Learning (maternity cover) at Liverpool Philharmonic, a symphony orchestra which provides a wide variety opportunities for people to develop their skills through regular workshops and performance opportunities, as well as schools concerts aimed at areas of the primary and secondary curriculum. The orchestra is committed to supporting children at all stages of their creative development.

My main skills are developing creative approaches to learning, engaging with the local community, building partnerships, fundraising, delivering presentations and evaluating learning outcomes. I also lead on safeguarding in my current role. I am excited to share these skills with Moss Park Infant School.

Mr Asif Patel

Co-opt Governor

I’ve lived in Stretford all my life and I love being part of this community. In October 2019, an opportunity arose to join on the governing board in a co-opted capacity. With my son recently joining reception I feel as though I can call upon my experiences from my professional career to identify areas of improvement and help develop the future vision for the school. I have excellent communications skills and combined with my calm and collective approach I hope to help the school maintain high standards.

Being involved in IT industry for over 15 years, many of my skills acquired are transferable and I hope to help steer the school to success and strengthen the governing board. I believe that co-opted governors have a special role to play. I would look to work with teachers\governors to help drive the continued improvement needed to provide our children with the best chance of success.

I have a proven track record of managing teams and driving through change in some challenging times. I’m an IT Manager by profession and with my knowledge and experience hopefully it will be ideal for the school as we live in a world where technology is becoming a part of everyday life.

Why do schools need Governors?

Schools need more enthusiastic and committed people to step forward as governors. It is an opportunity to have your voice heard and to influence education for the children in your area.

Could you be a Governor?

Being a governor is not difficult but you do need to be committed and interested in doing what is best for the next generation. If you care enough about the children in your community to invest some of your time in their future, get involved as a governor.

What do Governors do?

The governors are responsible for making sure the school provides a good quality education. They set the school aims and policies together with the Headteacher. The Headteacher is responsible for day to day management, but he or she is chosen by the governors and works closely with them.
