Throughout Early Years and Key Stage 1, the children have daily Maths opportunties to use continuous provision to enhance their learning, they are encouraged to develop their own ideas and interests. All classes have STEM workshops and Maths challenge areas, there is a clear progression of challenge across each year group.
In Early Years - children will have access to a wide range of manipulative resources to support maths and shape space and measure. Adults will scaffold children's mathematical ideas supporting children in the provision to view themselves as problem solvers. Children will often practise maths concepts they have been taught and they will often use the outside area to make up games that encourage counting, taking turns and teamwork.
Our Key Stage One children are introduced to weekly challenges where they can independently apply skills which have previously been taught. There is a clear progression of questions, prompts in year 1 and 2.
Children are encouraged to complete chilli challenges to consolidate their understanding.
