Autumn 1

How well do you know Stretford?

Do you like exploring? As Geographers this half term, we will be learning all about Stretford, our local area. We will be investigating the human and physical geographical features.

As Scientists, we will be becoming animal experts! We will be looking at lots of different types of animals, including mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians. I have a feeling that many of you will already know lots of interesting animal facts, and I am so excited to hear them all!

Our core text this half term is called ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers. I know this is a story we will really enjoy, and I can’t wait to see all of your amazing talk for writing actions.

As mathematicians, we will be building our knowledge on number and place value, by sorting, counting and representing objects. We will be doing lots of fun practical activities which I know you will love!

Our artist study will be on Geoffrey Bardon, and as artists, we will be focusing on aboriginal art, recreating it ourselves and using a range of materials and tools.

Our music this half term will be exploring our voices and how they can be used to create different sounds and effects. This is going to be fabulous!

Parents, we would love it if you could keep up with our amazing learning, which will be uploaded every week for you to see. It is going to be such a fun-filled first half term of Year 1!
