This week in Reception Oak we have continued with our focus story, 'The Gingerbread Man'. The children have become so amazing at retelling this story and have created their own story maps! I have shared an image of our whole class story map so the children can practice retelling the story at home too! I’m sure they can teach you some of the actions!
Outside and in the atelier we have been inspired by the artist Andy Goldsworthy. He uses all natural materials to create art and sculptures!
We even did a bit of Andy Goldsworthy maths - counting leaves onto a stick to hang in our outdoor area. We used maths vocabulary to explore adding ‘1 more’. We then displayed our leaf collections on the fence as a piece of ‘land art’, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.
We have continued to look at birds and this week have focused on the Robin! We looked carefully at their features and used black pen and water colours to create some Robin artwork.
Next week we will be historians, talking about when we were babies! If you have not yet brought a baby photo to school please bring one next week - we will photocopy the photo and send the original back home to you.
Thank you!
