Wow! What an exciting start to the term!
We have absolutely loved diving into our new 'Blue planet topic'! The children have been so passionate about learning about the deep blue sea!
On Thursday we marked 'Earth Day' by learning about some of the negative effects of pollution on the sea and the creatures that live there. The children were all shocked to find black oil in our water tray, and animals and rubbish caught in a fishing net! As Polly Problem solvers we immediately got to work on cleaning up the mess and talking about how we can prevent damage such as this happening to our seas. Then we worked as a team to create an image of what we want the oceans to return to and remain as - bright, clean and full of life!
Our 'WOW day' on Friday was a huge success, it was lovely seeing all of the children coming to school in their costumes and blue/green clothes. We then embarked on a treasure hunt! We followed clues all around the play ground and ended up back in our classroom - but with a new edition! A gorgeous gold fish (yet to be named) had joined our class as well as our new T4W book...and a chest some gold chocolate coins! We are going to take such good care of our new class fish before they move to a bigger tank with some of their friends.
The children have blown us away with their reading and writing this week - thank you for all of the reading you are doing at home this really consolidates all we do at school.
Next week is science week and we have even more fun in store!
