Today we all dressed in our party clothes and had a fabulous day joining in with some lovely Diwali activities. We all learnt a Bollywood dance routine which was very exciting! We also listened to the story of Diwali told by one of our friends and made some beautiful cards, Rangoli pictures and Mehndi patterns!

Wow! What a super busy bonfire afternoon we have had today! We watched and listened to the different sounds that fireworks make and looked at their beautiful colours, we discussed our homework which was our experience of fireworks, talked about the story behind bonfire night and how important safety is, before then making our own firework pictures!

Numicon Number-line

Polly Problemsolver set us the mission to make our own number-line using numicon this week. We worked together as a team to do this and what fabulous mathematicians we became! We figured out that all of the numicon pieces were different and we ordered them from 1-10. We then set off to do this independently in our maths books!

We have all been working super hard this week in Reception. The children have been becoming familiar with our new story, re-telling it together as a group and acting it out. We have also all done some some counting in maths, matching a quantity of bears with a number given!

This week the children have been exploring lots of new resources that are now in our outdoor area! We have got a brand new potions station and music wall!

As it was very cold this week, we had the chance to explore some ice. We used lots of good descriptive words!

The children have also been developing their motor strength this week, given the challenge of getting the pegs inside the pumpkin.

What good fun we have had!

Today we began our new topic 'Does the Moon Ever go to sleep?' We started by reading our T4W story 'Peace at last'. This week in Literacy all of the children will be acting out the story and putting the sequence back together again.

This afternoon the children enjoyed some warm hot chocolate and toast whilst listening to some lovely stories.

What a great day!
